REMEMBRANCE

Greetings dear friends!
Well what a day it has been, here in Melbourne a great crowd of over 40,000 young and old alike meeting at the Shrine for the Dawn service and of course there would be many thousands more throughout Australia who met in a similar way and this time, and then the March of Remembrance and the Commemorative services, all held because of the solemn statement that we all make in reverance; "LEST WE FORGET!"
Our remembrance is for those who gave their lives and who returned injured in body, mind or spirit and emotions from a fight or wars that came and we trusted would not be repeated between nations and peoples.
Yes in the sacredness of this day we remember and I give thanks to God for all the sacrifices that was made, for I acknowledge that I am a beneficiary of all that took place as I live in this wonderful land of Australia.
I very quickly however, think of a request that was made to Jesus in regard to being remembered, it came from one of the thieves on the cross, who said to Jesus, "Lord! remember me when you come into your Kingdom!"
The reply of Jesus to Him came as a result of the sacrifice of His own life as Hesus died for him and for all who confess .Him as Saviour and Lord. "This day you will be with Me in Paradise!"
As we have been remembering the sacrifice of many, at this moment I remember the sacrifce of Jesus and pray that in return He will remember me. Would you also make this your desire and action of thought?
I remember well the chorus I used to sing in church, it says, "Remember me, remember me, dear Lord remember me. Remember, Lord, thy dying groans, and then remember me." Salvation Army Song Book Song number 105 (chorus)
"Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for his friends!" John 15: 13.
